Web Developer/Designer

CloudScope are recruiting on behalf of a client in the Colchester area that are looking for a Web Developer with at least 3 years’ experience. Our client offers a successful supply and maintenance service to the entire public sector and are looking for a passionate developer to work closely with the marketing team for all necessary requirements.

The Role

You will be responsible for coding, design, and layout of the company’s website. You will create new website layouts and user interfaces (HTML/CSS). You will be part of a skilled team and must work on your own initiative. You will also be involved in maintaining web-based systems for workflow and help to make this more efficient.

• Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices.
• Create website layouts with computer or handmade sketches to organise information and allow for intuitive usage.
• Build websites to agreed specifications by writing code, designing pages and widgets, and incorporating graphics and video elements.
• Determine the best plug-ins and applications to provide websites with new features and functionality and installs them accordingly.
• Maintain fluency in one or more programming languages, including HTML and JavaScript.
• Regularly check in with the Digital Marketing Executive to assess website development & publishing content
• Maintain websites by checking for errors, broken links, and hacking attempts.
• Develop knowledge of website accessibility standards and legal.
• Assess website security and install updated software to ensure that websites stay secure

The Candidate

• At least 3 years of web development experience
• Excellent front-end development skills including HTML, CSS, jQuery, JavaScript
• Experience completing eCommerce projects
• Experience with premium themes and page builders
• Basic Photoshop skills for image optimization
• Basic Illustrator skills for SVG and logo work.
• Basic SEO knowledge
• Ability to perform WordPress / Plugin updates
• Sound understanding of fundamental UX & UI principles (ability to take a design and build out further templates).

Salary: up to £35,000

Working Hours: Monday-Friday 8.30-5

Location: Colchester, Essex

Commutable from: Sudbury, Chelmsford, Clacton-on-Sea, Ipswich, Manningtree, Frinton-On-Sea, Braintree

Who would suit this role?

This would suit a web developer with at least 3 years’ experience with a passion for design. HTML/CSS experience with a good understanding of UX & UI principles. You will be looking to be part of an experience in-house development team.
