Head of Technology
Meet Our Recruiter
About the Role
Head of Technology | Remote (East Sussex) | £100,000 to £120,000
If you are a senior technology leader, you know the frustration of being pushed so far up the management chain that you lose touch with the code. You want to modernise platforms, drive AI strategy, and remain hands on with the architecture, but instead, you are trapped in a loop of administrative red tape.
It does not have to be that way.
We are partnering with a Scale-up Data Consultancy for building planning that is a B Corp certified organisation. They are looking for a highly communicative Head of Technology who gets on exceptionally well with the CEO to truly lead and own their technology function. Here, you will not just be a figurehead; you will be leading from the front, reviewing code, writing architecture, and shaping everything from geospatial data systems to modern AI guardrails.
The Benefits
-
True Technical Ownership: Full accountability over the technology strategy, platform reliability, security, and engineering practices.
-
Remote & Flexible: A fully remote position connected to a Brighton hub, offering a highly competitive £100,000 to £120,000 salary.
-
Purpose Driven Environment: Work for a certified B Corp committed to good governance, compliance, and positive industry impact.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will act as the strategic and operational lead across engineering, architecture, platforms, and IT service delivery. You will run strategy sessions, deliver training courses, and establish firm best practices around AI implementation and geospatial data science.
Because you will be leading from the front, you must be highly experienced with technology and will actively engage with the following tech stack:
-
Frontend & Web Apps: TypeScript, JavaScript, and NextJS (powering most web applications).
-
Backend & Logic: NodeJS, Ruby, and Python.
-
Infrastructure & Cloud: AWS for the development team and Azure for the IT team.
Beyond software delivery, you will ensure systems remain secure and compliant, leading the ISO 27001 programme and mitigating technical risks.
Are You the Right Fit?
To excel in this role, you need to be an experienced, hands on engineering leader—such as a Head of Engineering or Technical Director—with a strong background in building and scaling software systems within an Agile delivery environment. You must be highly experienced with the core technology stack (NextJS, NodeJS, Ruby, Python) and possess deep architectural knowledge across cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
A strong grasp of data science and geospatial data is highly relevant. Crucially, you must be a strong communicator capable of translating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, coaching team members, and making pragmatic technical decisions under uncertainty. Valid Right to Work in the UK is essential.
